FebSuame MP And Chairman Luqman Commiserate With Victims Of Suame Magazine Fire Outbreak
The Member of Parliament for the Suame Constituency, Hon. Dr. John Darko and the Chairman of the Ashanti Region Ghana National Association of Garages, Chairman Alhaji Luqman Mohammed Nuhu Appiedu, have commiserated with victims of last week's fire outbreak at a section of Kumasi Suame Magazine.
At least 25 shops and 34 vehicles were razed by a fire that started around 10pm on Friday, January 31,2025.
A timely intervention by the Ghana National Fire Service prevented the inferno from causing further havoc.
Hon. Dr. John Darko and Chairman Luqman visited the area to console the affected artisans and assess the extent of damage.
Speaking to the media on arrival, Chairman Luqman said: "This is a very sad incident and we are shocked because people's properties have been destroyed.
"However, I am glad our member of Parliament has promised some form of assistance to the victims. We are also appealing to the government to provide a fire station for the people of Suame Magazine."
Hon. Dr. John Darko corroborated Chairman Luqman's calls for a fire station in the area and will work judiciously to ensure they get one.
As investigations into the cause of the fire continues, Hon. Dr. John Darko advised Suame Magazine artisans to desist from irresponsible burning of waste materials after the close of work.
